Applesauce Nut Bread

Skill required: Confident Beginner 1 cup sugar
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 large egg whites
3 tablespoons skim milk
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup chopped walnuts1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Using a non-stick vegetable spray, coat a 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan.
3. Combine sugar, applesauce, all-vegetable oil, egg whites and skim milk in large bowl. Mix thoroughly.
4. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
5. Combine until all ingredients are well blended.
6. Stir in chopped walnuts.
7. Spread batter in prepared pan.
8. Bake 60 - 70 minutes.
9. Place pan on cooling rack for 10 minutes. Then remove from pan and continue cooling until cooled completely.
Wrap tightly with plastic wrap to store.
