Four Nut Tart

Time to prepare: @ 1 hourButter Pastry Crust - Recipe under "Basics" and also "Pie."
1/2 cup pecans
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup pine nuts
1/2 cup macadamia nuts or pistachio nuts
3 eggs
1 egg yolk
1 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
2 tablespoons walnut oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Spread all the nuts onto the unbaked butter pastry in a tart pan.
3. Whisk together the eggs, egg yolk and sugar in a mixing bowl.
4. Stir in the corn syrup, walnut oil, vanilla and salt. Pour this mixture over the nuts.
5. Bake the pie until it is browned and beginning to puff up, about 45 minutes. When it's ready, a sharp knife inserted in the center will come out clean. Cool the tart on a rack for at least 1 hour before serving.
6. Remove the sides of the 2-part tart pan and use a long metal spatula to free the bottom crust from the pan. Transfer the tart to a serving plate and serve at room temperature with ice cream or dollops of whipped cream.
Yield: one 12-inch tart
