Basic Dog Treats

WOW scale: 10
Skill required: Must love your pups a lot.

3 1/2 cups unbleached flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup skim milk powder
1 tablespoon (or 1 package) dry yeast
3 1/2 cups lukewarm chicken or meat broth

1. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm chicken or meat broth. The richer this broth is, the better your dog will like the biscuits.

2. Let yeast broth mixture set 10 min.

3. While yeast broth is setting, mix unbleached flour, whole wheat flour, cornmeal and milk powder in separate bowl.

4. When yeast broth is set, stir in flour mixture.

5. Roll resulting dough out 1/4" thick.

6. Cut dog biscuit shapes from dough. (Molds available in cook shops.)

7. Scramble 1-2 eggs. Brush biscuits.

8. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 300 degrees for 45 min.

9. Turn oven off and leave biscuits in overnight to finish hardening.

Yield: 60 medium-sized biscuits.

My pups tend to sit in front of the oven to watch the baking. The aroma does nothing for me but they swoooooon (and drool.)
